Katie Geffken

A marketing strategist and local business owner turned Realtor®, Katie has an entrepreneurial spirit and loves to make a positive impact in people’s lives through her work.

She spent years marketing for top brands like P&G and Volkswagen, but wanted to make more of a positive impact in her community. So she switched gears and founded Biker Barre, a Capitol Hill cycling and barre studio. While the studio was an instant success and is today a neighborhood staple, Katie grew hungry again for the chance to make a difference in a more tangible way.

Upon getting her real estate license to buy her own home (as one does), Katie realized she had stumbled into the perfect role for her personality and skill set.

Hard skills like developing a marketing strategy, managing negotiations, and conducting property valuations are part of Katie’s DNA. But the soft skills are where she thrives. After 7+ years of running a fitness studio with 45+ staff members and 12k+ clients, Katie knows a thing or two about customer service, managing a team, and making sure everyone feels heard and served.

Katie holds a BA and MBA from the University of Michigan. She’s the past president of the Business School Alumni Club of DC and remains an active part of the community. Her husband Andrew is also a crazy entrepreneur type, having founded Charm City Meadworks and now helping other small food and beverage start-ups. (Their 4-year-old daughter, Genevieve, is really the one in charge.)
